Hi all

I have an audio file of a track I want to learn.
Its supposed to be in Em but the audio track is in C^2 or something!!

I've tried correcting it in audacity but that simply doesn't work. The
closest it gets is E=mc^2

Any suggestions?

Cheers

"C to the power 2" or "C squared".

Basically its not in any known key, somehow the audio recording has been
pitch shifted by some weird amount.
I tried changing it to the "correct key" using Audacity but it still sounds
way out. Basically, Audacity is doing it wrong (well it is free)

I've gone about as far as I can with audacity and I'm a bit stumped to be
honest.

By the sound of it, its probably a few cents sharp or flat of C, a semitone
is subdivided into a 100 cents.

Yep, had a fiddle around. I also found another version of the same track and
that too was in the key of nearly C.

Seems the score I have that shows it to be in Em is basically excrement! Its
no wonder I was getting nowhere!

Having sussed that out, if I play it in the key of C and play the audio
track at the same time, its obviously "off"
and I wouldn't use the audio track as a backing. But, its bearable enough to
use it as a guide while I learn it.

Its not a hard track to be honest but its kind of cool.

It should be even easier now I know what I'm doing :-)

Many thanks.

forgot to mention, if the piece has drums , bearing in mind youre shifting
it up around 2 tones, they might sound pretty awful.
For my pitch shifting i use Celomy Melodyne
