Hi all,

Not sure if this is the right place to ask about this but here goes...

I am trying to nail down the identity of a semi-acoustic Gibson that I have
in my possession and am planning on restoring. I guess it can best be
described as having a 335 shape, is blond with rosewood (?? I'm just
guessing here) fingerboard and two "strange looking" single pole P-ups. The
guitar was bought in Australia in the early 70's and has the usual wear and
tear, as well as some other unusual artefacts, including some damage/crude
modification(?) to the pick-up covers.

I have upped some images here:

http://tinyurl.com/2h79wl

The serial number is 969438 and it has "Made In The USA" stamped on the back
of the headstock. . The scouting around I have done so far on the net has
not really yielded any firm info on what that SN indicates, so apols in
advance if I've missed something glaringly obvious in relation to that
aspect of identifying the axe.

I am trying to locate the original small Gibson booklet that came with the
guitar and will post any info that bring to light ASAP. From memory it
didn't contain much apart form the usual gumpf, but it *may* have included
the numerals "120" as part of the model type.

In the meantime, any help, tips or other suggestions will be very much
appreciated.

Cheers and TIA,
na.

You're right, it does look like the ES 335. I did a quick Google for
vintaged Gibson and found a news/blob group. They suggested to contact
williesguitar.com
heres the complete posting.
good luck
