I have a friend who owns a recording studio and is also a guitar aficionado.
He recently designed a display cabinet to house some of his guitars and had
a couple of them custom built using special hanger hardware which he also
designed and had fabricated.
Now he is wondering if there might be sufficient demand throughout the rest
of the guitar playing/collecting world to manufacture and sell similar
cabinetry.
The pieces he commissioned are about 6 1/2 - 7 feet tall, 2 - 2 1/2 feet
deep and 3 - 4 feet wide, made of cherry with birch doors below and glass
doors with birch frames above. They are made to display five guitars, have
built-in lighting, and the lower compartments can hold all five guitar
cases.
If you'd like to have a look at some pictures, please go to the following

Since my friend has no Usenet experience, he has asked me to post the
inquiries for him. At the moment we are just at the fact-finding stage so
nothing is currently for sale. (If you happen to be in Connecticut and
can't live without one or two of these cabinets, you could probably twist
his arm and he would have new ones made for himself.) However, we really
just want to know: a. is anyone interested in such a piece of furniture; b.
what sort of price would you expect to pay; c. what features or design
elements would you want included; and d. have you ever contacted a carpenter
or cabinetmaker about having a custom display cabinet built?
You can give us your feedback by replying to this post or you can contact
him directly at ***@tapeworksinc.com
Thanks.
